Performance Band

Students who join Performance Band have typically been learning an instrument for two or more years.  Auditions for Performance Band are held at school during the final weeks of Term 4 for those students currently in the Senior Band.  For the audition criteria, please refer to the Notes/ Forms tab within the band section on this website.  Normally the majority of students in Senior Band progress to Performance Band the following year.

Performance Band is comprised primarily of students in Years 5 and 6, however any student who has already been learning an instrument prior to entering Year 3 will be considered for whichever band best suits their current level of musical attainment.

Music lessons and rehearsals for Performance Band students for the year normally commence in the first couple of weeks of Term 1.  Performance Band rehearses in our school hall on Monday and Friday mornings from 7.40 am to 8.45 am.  Rehearsals take place every Monday and Friday morning during term, unless advised otherwise by Key Music Australia.  The Performance Band conductor for 2016 is Mr Andrew H. The Performance Band Parent Liaison contacts for 2016 are Juliet I and Barbara C.

Performance opportunities for Performance Band typically include the concert for families at Band Camp, regular school assemblies, Band Recital Night, the Key Music Australia Charity Concert, the Northern Sydney Symphonic Wind Ensemble (NSSWE) Spring Music Festival, Wahroonga Music Festival, our End of Year Band Concert, and the end of year school presentation day.  In 2015 the NSW Police Band held a workshop for our Performance Band students at school.
