School Chaplaincy Program

Our school has been part of the voluntary National Schools Chaplaincy Program, since early 2016. Our School Chaplain / Support Officer, Mrs Ruth Middleton works closely with the Learning Support Team and School Principal, to complement well-being services within the school. She currently works 2 days a week (Wed/Thurs).

A School Chaplain, within a public school setting, provides an additional support for school communities by providing effective support for the social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of students and their families, regardless of faith or background.

They also provide a trusted, caring presence within the school, having the time and training to listen, support and refer appropriately. Programs are run to help students develop self- esteem, positive peer support, support in dealing with grief and loss, and to build personal resilience.

A Voluntary Service

The Chaplaincy service is a voluntary one, and members of the school community do not have to participate in this service. Referrals to the Chaplaincy program are usually via the class teacher and Learning Support team, and parental/guardian consent is obtained.

How do I access the Chaplaincy Service?

To contact the School Chaplain, or make an appointment, please phone our School Administration Office on 9484 4700 (Wed/Thur) or email Ruth Middleton directly on ruth.middleton8@det.nsw.edu.au
